I congratulate those involved in doing this work. There is a lot of effort which has been applied to connecting different tools and assisting those company officers who get involved in both exercises. I am not sure the extent to which it is intended to continue with the 'mapping' work but I would like to put forward a suggestion for future efforts. I would also volunteer to help with this work if it considered feasible. Specifically, I think there is a real need to map GRI to more widely adopted business tools, such as the Balanced Scorecard [BSC]. Graham Hubbard at the University of Adelaide recently published an excellent article [see Business Strategy and the Environment -Bus. Strat. Env. 19, 177–191 (2009) Published online 19 December 2006 in Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com) DOI: 10.1002/bse.564] titled "Measuring Organizational Performance:Beyond the Triple Bottom Line" and I have suggested to Graham that there would be real benefit in connecting his work on the BSC with the GRI work. Mapping would be an excellent 'method' for doing this and I could see it making a difference to a lot more businesses who have already 'signed on' to the BSC but are not reporting using GRI CRI.
