I fully support the 'gist' of the declaration but I think it would be interesting to know what a " global transparency and accountability system" may entail. It would also be interesting to have a little insight into how such a system may have " moderated" the crisis. My experience so far in relation to ethical and progressive business practice is that it is borne out of the values and energy of the people involved and is best fostered by education and development. This is of course the decade of Education for Sustainable Development and Australia has recently established a national action plan on this front- http://www.environment.gov.au/education/nap/index.html-. I think national and international effort on education for SD is at the 'root cause' level of the problem more than just further regulation/reporting. However, I do reiterate my support for the gist of the declaration.

It’s an exciting time for GRI in Australia as we’ve just finished a set of introductory workshops around the country to really help build and share the knowledge base.
